Initial Office Consultation

All surgical candidates will have an initial consultation in the office with a surgeon. Typically, this is following a referral from another physician that has seen you already. We do not perform procedures on patients that have not first had a face-to-face evaluation in our office. At that appointment, the surgeon will discuss any relevant diagnostic tests you may have had, or will require prior to scheduling. You will have an opportunity to ask questions, and the doctor will discuss different options, alternatives and recommendations for your particular condition

While you are in our office for the consultation, you will be able to speak with the Scheduling Coordinator. Some surgical procedures require specific diagnostic tests such as labs or diagnostic scans to help pin-point exactly what the surgeon needs to see. Other procedures may require certain tests during the actual surgery. We will talk to you about setting a date for either a diagnostic procedure or surgical procedure so that you can make any plans or arrangements for the day of the procedure. We will also talk with you about any insurance requirements or copayments due for the procedure so you will know ahead of time.

There are a few small procedures we are able to perform here in the office (for example, a minor hemorrhoid procedure, or drainage of a cyst). But all procedures requiring sedation are performed across the street at the facility, usually as an outpatient or same day procedure. There are some procedures that do require admission to the hospital for overnight stay, but those are typically major procedures, procedures for older patients, or those with special medical needs that may require longer observation.

We will contact your insurance company prior to your procedure to verify benefits, notify them of the planned surgery date, and obtain authorization for the service.Coming soon…
